Last week, I talked about how I didn’t think that Obama was the Anti-Christ, but mentioned the similarities of how it will be when the evil one emerges. — Well, have any of you noticed what’s going on around the world? As we speak, not only is the financial meltdown happening in America, it’s spreading like wildfire across the globe. In fact, the world economy is deteriorating more quickly than most leading economists predicted only a few weeks ago.
Let’s start with Iceland. Its banks have failed and not long after, its coalition government collapsed. Needless to say, this has caused major turmoil and unrest in a country that otherwise has always been calm and steadfast.
Just down the ocean a ways, Britain posted its worst quarterly contraction since 1980 on the heels of sharper than expected slowdowns reported from Germany to China to South Korea. The grim data, analysts said, underscores how the burst of the biggest credit bubble in history is seeping into the economies around the world, silencing construction cranes, bankrupting businesses, and throwing millions of people out of work.
“In just the past few days, we’ve had a big downward revision. We’re seeing that an even bigger deceleration is on the way, much bigger than we thought”, said Simon Johnson, former Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund.
Continuing, analysts are extremely concerned about the slowdown in China and the recession in Europe. China, a nation of over one billion people, fears massive unrest as unemployment soars. — The problems in Europe now appear to be bad, if not worse, than those in the U.S. — In fact, the European Union has began closely monitoring the spread of civil unrest. There are signs of rapid deterioration in many areas such as Germany, France, and elsewhere. We’ve certainly seen major civil disruption in Greece. The problems are, on the surface, blamed on a teen shooting, but believe me when I say it was just the trigger to a loaded gun.
And what about Eastern Europe? Latvia just exploded into riots and its public is demanding early elections. There’s no jobs and dwindling supplies. Lithuania, along with Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Hungary are not any better off. Europeans by and large have compared the current unrest to the events of the 1930’s when the Great Depression fueled upheaval across the continent and gave rise to isolationism and fascism.
I could go on, but you get the picture. — So what does all this mean? — Let’s take a short walk down memory lane for a moment. After World War I the defeated nation of Germany was in chaos, both politically and financially. In fact, their currency was so worthless that it took a wheel barrow full to buy a loaf of bread! — To say the least, they were desperate and vulnerable.
So, who comes along to solve their problems? — None other than Adolph Hitler. — Simply put, he had a plan and a desperate people bought it. He came to power by rebuilding their economy and giving them a renewed hope. — Of course, we know the rest of the story. As Germanys leader, he became a monster sweeping the world into the Holocaust (Yes, it was real) and brought twelve years of living hell to the earth.
Today, we are not far from the same exact scenario, only this time, it’s worldwide! The table is being set for the next “savior of the world” and I’m speaking, of course, about the Anti-Christ.
The three main places in the Bible that provide most of what we know about this coming world ruler is Daniel, Chapters 7 through 12, II Thessalonians 2, and Revelation 13. — In Revelation 13, we have a description of this Anti-Christ who, in my opinion, will soon be the head of the European Union, the revived Roman Empire. This will be His platform and power base. (A complete, detailed study of Daniel as well as the Anti-Christ is soon forthcoming to this website).
This charismatic political wonder will do great things and will convince people that he has all the answers to solving the world’s problems. He will come to power at a time of international economic crisis. He will cause craft and deceit to prosper. No person will be able to buy or sell anything without having the mark of the beast on is or her right hand or forehead. (See Revelation 13:17.)
This Anti-Christ will control the world’s economy with a vengeance. — For a short time, the world economy will flourish. Then, like Hitler, he will drag the world into the Battle of Armageddon, a bloodbath the equal of which the world has never seen.
Summing up, I believe time is extremely short for snatching those who are lost from the fire (Jude 22-23). We as individuals and as a Church must stop wasting time and get to the work we are here for. I do know, from personal experience, that what we have to say isn’t always well received or accepted, but remember that this isn’t a popularity contest. This is all about saving souls for Jesus.
Galations 1:10 comes to mind. “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
And remember, as the world continues to spiral out of control, our popularity will only continue to decline.
It will get darker, but we are the light. — And remember, no matter how difficult it gets, I Thessalonians 1:10 says, “Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.” –He promised, so it is so.
Until next time,

Hey everyone! — First, I would like to thank those of you who are responding to this site. It’s great to hear your comments and concerns. It helps me know what to focus on and what needs to be addressed.
Just a quick note — I’ve finally retired from my employment in the secular world and can now focus my full energy on what’s most important, and that is God’s work. In fact, soon we will be launching a full-blown website complete with teachings on many areas of scripture. Hopefully, you will find it thought-provoking and worthwhile and will tell your friends and neighbors about it. The ultimate goal of Light in the Darkness is to inform you of how our time we live in relates to scripture and also to remove the fear that exists in many people today. — With God’s blessing and assistance, we can accomplish all things intended for each of us. Please pray for God’s will to prevail.
That said, there are two questions/concerns that I want to address this week —The first is on President Obama. Several have wondered if he might be the Anti-Christ. My opinion is absolutely no, mainly because he doesn’t live and ‘rule’ in the right place and he’s not from the right area. Remember, the Bible specifically points out that the Anti-Christ will come from the revived Roman Empire. Obama’s ancestry isn’t that (at least we don’t think so). — I do, however, see similarities in how it will be when the evil ruler emerges. It’s fascinating to see how quickly people have accepted Obama without really knowing who he is. — And to watch them when he speaks borders on scary — it’s like they are in total submission to his every word. — In times of chaos and fear, this is how the masses will respond. We are in that kind of time and are seeing first-hand how it will be. —Frightening!
The second is how America fits into prophecy in these final days. – No one can explain to any degree of satisfaction why America isn’t mentioned by name in the Bible. There are many speculations and postulations, but none that I’ve seen have any Biblical support.
One such speculation was e-mailed to me a couple of days ago, saying that Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. Supposedly, he’s been saying this for some ten years and in the beginning no one listened, but all are listening now.
He based his forecast on classified data (being an ex-KGB guy) and predicts economic, financial, and demographic trends will provoke a political and social crisis in the U.S. — He goes on to say that when the going gets tough, wealthier states will withhold funds from the federal government and effectively secede from the Union. Social unrest and civil war will follow.
He concludes that the U.S. will break into six pieces with Alaska reverting to Russian control. Also, the “California Republic” will be controlled by China. Texas will be the heart of “The Texas Republic”, a cluster of states that will go to Mexico. Washington D.C. and New York will be part of an “Atlantic America” and will join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states which will be called “The North American Republic”. Then Hawaii will become a protectorate of Japan or China.
Far-fetched? Most likely, but it’s interesting to read all these different scenarios. — What’s unnerving is that because of the condition of our country, all these speculations and postulations come forth as possibilities, at least in some form.
I’ve talked and written a lot about America’s role in these last-days prophesies, the general position being that she will decline in power because of the ongoing and rapidly increasing moral decay of its society as well as the rapidly declining strength of its economy on the global market. — The recent election results (2006 and 2008) and current leadership certainly strengthens the possibility of this outcome.
Let’s look for a moment at one possible “legitimate’ scenario for America’s role in these times. — Modern Israel is living proof that America was established for God’s great purposes. She helped bring Israel to birth on May 14, 1948, then acted as a protector of the Jewish state while she learned how to stand on her feet, as prophesied in Ezekiel 37.
Also, I believe God established America as a means to preach the gospel message to the whole world.
America is living testimony to the absolute truth of God’s faithfulness to fulfill His prophetic word. America is the most materially and spiritually blessed nation ever to exist. God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3 is 100% validated.
I will bless those who bless thee, and curse those who curse thee.
America then, so key to bringing fulfillment of end-time prophesy into focus in human, earthly terms by helping put Israel at stage center on the global scene, at present is now key to setting in motion the time of tribulation — the last seven years of human history preceding Christ’s triumphant return.
The “roadmap to peace”, the brain-child of geo-political strategists in America and the E.U, is pushing toward the predecessor to what God calls “The covenant made with death and hell“. (Isaiah 28:14-18)
The “roadmap to peace” has meta-morphed into a process that now demands that Israel give up not only land she has won with each succeeding attack from her enemies, but that Israel divide Jerusalem, allowing a new Palestinian state, and when instituted, to make Eastern Jerusalem its capital. — This action will not set well with Almighty God.
As a result, God’s prophetic storm of forewarning of wrath to come is blowing across this nation. Wrath and judgement could be just around the corner.
Jesus Christ is the only shelter to be found from the coming time of unprecedented turbulence upon planet Earth. — The Lord promises those who accept His offer of salvation to be removed from that horrendous time. (Revelation 3:10) — He also said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself. That where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3)
Until next time,

January 16, 2009

With just a few days before the inauguration of newly-elected President Barak Obama, I think it might be interesting to look at how some of the world leaders are viewing it.
Mikail Gorbachev, the last leader of the old Soviet Union, praised Obama’s victory. He said, “Obama could be the American President to usher in a much-needed Perestroika.” —To the U.S., that is. Perestroika means ‘A fundamental restructuring of the system of government’ —in this case, the American government.
Another influential Russian is Mikail Khodorovsky, the founder of the giant oil company ‘Gazprom’. Though he is currently in a Russian jail for fraud and tax evasion charges, he still reflects the thinking of the Russian leadership. His words are worth weighing. — In an article published in the Russian Business Daily, he said, “Obama’s election win was not merely another change of power in a separate country, but was important to all states.” — Khodorovsky also said, “A global Perestroika would be a logical response to the global (economic) crisis.”
In other words, the answer to the world’s economic crisis is a fundamental re-structuring of the U.S. Government and economic system by a truly liberal president. From the Russian point of view, that means an Obama left-turn into socialism.
But I believe the most important statement made by any foreign leader on the uniqueness of this time in which Obama has been elected came from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. He said, “The international financial crisis has given world leaders a unique opportunity to create a truly global society.” — He sees this international financial crisis as presenting the greatest opportunity for setting up a one-world government. (Where have I heard that?!)
Obama’s election could not have happened at a more opportune time. Brown, along with many other leaders, see Obama as more willing to conform to the more socialist government dominating the E.U. (European Union). – He believes that the convergence of all these events has provided a golden opportunity to bring in a new world order. (There is is again ——-twitch.)
Brown continues, “My message is that we must be: internationalist, not protectionist (or nationalistic); interventionists, not neutral; progressive, not reactive; and forward-looking, not frozen by events. We can seize the moment and in doing so build a truly global society.”
Translating into simple terms, ti means this — the U.S.A. must forsake its constitutional, nationalistic thinking and become more subjective to the other nations. — It must be more compromising and appeasing, less assertive and confrontational.
Brown concluded, “Challenges we face today are the difficult birth pangs of a new global order.”
Did you hear that?! — The birth pangs of a new global order?! Those words are lifted right out of the words Jesus spoke when He said, “Here are the signs of my return.” (Matthew 24) Jesus used the familiar comparison of birth pangs to illustrate increasing trouble up to His triumphant return.
Back to the Russian Khodorovsky, he summed it up quite well when he said, “The paradigm of global development is about to change. The era inaugurated by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher thirty years ago is over.”
If you remember, Reagan believed in a strong America and a strong free enterprise system without heavy government interference. He would have never submitted America’s Bill of Rights to a global court. — Now the order of the day is to submerge personal and rational national rights to the needs of all the other nations —A “Utopia” one-world philosophy.
This is exactly the kind of government the Bible prophesied would come into existence just prior to Jesus’ return. — And it is the Anti-Christ who will provide the final boost and set up the “predicted” one-world government. —And every last-days signs from the Bible indicates that the Anti-Christ is alive and waiting in the wings to be unveiled. – The time all the prophets looked for is now here. (Daniel 7 through 12 and Revelations 12 through 14).
In conclusion, I don’t see anything surprising in the election of Barak Obama. – I do believe strongly that a dark, demonic cloud has swept over the land, but this is how we should expect these times to play out. –And there are more evil things to come.
The real danger that worries me is the failure of Christian brothers and sisters to see the danger that comes from prophecy being fulfilled in our day.
We Christians, more than ever before, are entering a time when we really need to set our priorities. — The last chance for us to do something for the Kingdom may be much sooner than we think.
Revelation 22:12 says, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
Matthew 24:33-34 says, “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”
