Last week I talked about how America is changing course in its relationship with Israel, forcing her into a more isolated international position. I also talked about what had previously unified our two nations, one of which as a “common enemy” – the Muslims.
This week, I want to pursue a deeper glance into this “common enemy” and the ever-changing tide of deception creating this relational breakdown between America and Israel.
The whole process started some thirty-one years ago at the Camp David meetings, but has really began accelerating just these past few years. — Let’s look for examples at how pervious President Bush took a more moderate stance with the Muslim world. To begin with, immediately after 9/11, Mr. Bush visited a mosque in Washington, D.C. and proclaimed Islam a “religion of peace.” — He often stated that terrorists were not real Muslims. He even went on to state that Muslims and Christians all pray to the same God. – Wow! — Any way you look at this statement, its universalism (article coming) and neither Christians or Muslims believe in that.
Moving to our new administration, there’s even more evidence in its appeasing attitude to the Muslim world, and all at the expense of the Israeli relationship.
Also stated in last week’s commentary was how very difficult it was to understand how these so-called wise leaders of ours continue to miss the entire point of why the Israeli neighbors seek their destruction.
To better understand this, we need to take a look at the driving force behind this blatant hatred of the Jewish state. — It is none other than faith-based differences.
We in this western culture understand the Hebrew faith position because we are primarily Christian and share the same God. — But what is Islam-and what is the truth?
For quite some time now, I’ve been listening to the ongoing debate about Islam — some are fanatics — some are moderate and peace-loving. — In fact, we just recently listened to our current president wanting to negotiate with the “moderate” Taliban. — What?! Does anybody remember how Israel’s neighbors have sworn not to rest until she is wiped from the face of the Earth? — No moderation there!
Remember this! — Their entire motivation for their desire to destroy Israel is totally and unequivocally faith driven.
Listen to me when I say, there comes a time in our nation and our church when a spiritual fog or religious deception must be removed by a clear and unbiased pursuit of truth. — Simply stated, devout Muslims believe that killing Americans and Jews is the will of Muhammad the Prophet — and the will of their god — called Allah.
Islam not only condones violence – it commands it.
The Quran (their equivalent of the Bible), teaches in over one hundred verses to either convert or kill the infidel (non-believers).
Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeni declared: “The purest joy in Islam is to kill and be killed for Allah.” Is this fanaticism — or simply being faithful to the Islamic teachings?
Muhammad, the founder of Islam, slaughtered thousands of people in establishing and spreading Islam. He told his followers: “Who relinquishes his faith, kill him. I have been ordered by Allah to fight with people till they testify there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.”
Simply put, Islamic terrorists are not fanatics, but devout followers of Muhammad who are following his example and doing what their Islamic doctrine teaches them to do.
John Roberts’ “Thesis on Seven Mountains” states:
“Whereas the Gospel of Jesus Christ spreads despite persecution and by the power of its truthfulness, Satan’s false religions are typically spread by terror and the power of the sword. – Therefore, Satan uses military might to impose his will on mankind.”
Point is, people can sit around making diversity quits and think happy and deceiving thoughts, or soberly assess what Islam really stands for — violence, murder, and terror toward anyone who rejects their faith.
Islam teaches that Muhammad superseded the patriarchs and Christ. The word Islam does not mean peace — it means submission. Islam believes the prophet Muhammad taught absolute truth — that it is Allah’s will for them to rule the earth. Therefore, if Islam does not defeat Israel, Muhammad and the Quran were wrong — and that is absolutely unthinkable. Therefore, they must defeat Israel.
A final note on Islam in America — Historian, Daniel Pipes, writing from the Commentary Magazine November, 2001 issue, recorded the following shocking evidence concerning Islamic’ loyalty to America:
“In June, 1991, a convert to Islam, Siraj Wahaj, a recipient of the American Muslim community’s highest honors, had the privilege of becoming the first Muslim to deliver the daily prayer in the US. House of Representatives. On that occasion he recited from the Quran and appealed to the Almighty to guide American leaders and to ‘Grant them righteousness and wisdom.'”
But his story did not end there. — A little over a year later this same Muslim, addressing an audience of New Jersey Muslims, articulated a completely different message from his mild and moderate prayer given before the U.S. House. He said, “If only Muslims were more clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate (Islamic leadership body).” – He concluded with these remarks, “If we were united and strong, we would elect our own leader and give allegiance to him. — Take my word, if the six to eight million Muslims in America unite, the country will come to us.”
Let me share with you a brief story by Rick Mathes, a well known Christian leader in prison ministries:
“Last month I attended my annual training session that’s required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic imam had to say. The imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.
When it was my turn, I directed my question to the imam and asked, ‘Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand that most Islams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad (holy war) against infidels of the world, and that by killing an infidel (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in Heaven. If that is the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?’
There was no disagreement with my statement and without hesitation, he replied, ‘non-believers’.
I responded, ‘So let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in Heaven. Is that correct?’
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of ‘a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.’
He sheepishly replied, ‘Yes’. I then stated, ‘Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in Heaven.’ The imam was speechless.
I continued, ‘I also have a problem with being your ‘friend’ when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to Heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be there with me?’”
In conclusion, you can clearly see the truth behind the motivation of the true Islamic. Short of conversion to their faith, there is no other option.
The Bible says in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.“
Also, I John 5:20 states, “We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.“
I don’t know about you, but I’m growing weary of all the distortion and untruths coming out of the mouths of all these “Bible morons”.
I’m fed up with people saying the Bible doesn’t mean what it says — and I’m really tired of the people twisting the words of Holy Scripture to fit their distorted, politically correct, anti-God agendas.
Remember, the Bible means exactly what it says, and says exactly what it means.
And here’s the good news! Jesus is coming back really soon to end all this nonsense.
We need to pray for the lost which includes all Muslims, because they are lost.
The Kingdom of God is at hand!

Here I go again, but once more I must bring the subject of Israel to the forefront of your attention. — Remember first that one of the super signs of Christ’s imminent return was the regathering of the Jewish people back into their God-appointed land. This, of course, took place in May of 1948 when the modern nation of Israel was born.
I’ve covered this quite extensively and you can refresh yourself by going to the teaching section on this website and clicking on the Israel/Jerusalem study.
But what makes me bring it up again is what is currently taking place with Israel’s rapidly developing relationship with America’s new leadership.
For some sixty-one years, the U.S. and Israel have had a strong relationship. The ties that bind the two together have been cultural, economic, political, military and ideology.
Another major factor that has unified the two nations is a common enemy — the Muslim world. There are many terrorist groups, and they all sing the same song — “Death to Israel and death to America.”
But this past November, our nation elected a president who lacks a strong commitment to Israel. In fact, many of Barack Obama’s friends are known for their hatred of Israel. – In addition, several of his cabinet appointees are not known for their love of the Jewish state.
Let’s look at a couple of obvious “symptoms”. It appears, at least on the surface, that the white house seems to be shifting allegiances to the Muslim world. – The following are just a few examples to support this:
◆ President Obama gave his first Middle-Eastern TV interview to Al-Arabiya, an Arab-Muslim satellite network
◆ President Obama recently bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia
◆ President Obama delivered a major address to the Muslim world in Turkey, and will be giving another one in Egypt very soon.
On the flip side of this, in yet another milestone in the U.S. path towards abandoning Israel is the “humiliating reception” President Shimon Peres received from Obama. Visiting Washington last week, “Peres was tasked with calming the waters ahead of Prime Minister Netenyahu’s visit. It was hoped that he could introduce a more respectful tone to U.S. – Israeli relations.” — However, the Obama government barred all media from covering the event, thus transforming what was supposed to be a friendly visit with a respected and friendly Head of State into a backdoor encounter with an unwanted guest who was hurried in and hurried out of the White House without much of a sound.
And now with Israeli Prime Minister Netenyahu scheduled for a May 18 visit, several major news stories about the Obama administration have signaled that it’s taking a tougher approach towards Israel.
What is obvious to me in watching all this is that Obama appears to be setting course for a major confrontation with the Israeli people and government. Reports from both sides of the Atlantic indicate that the new American President plans to show Prime Minister Netenyahu, and all of Israel, just who is calling the shots. However, those of us who know something about Mr. Netenyahu know that this will not go over well with him. Even though he desires a good relationship with America, he will not compromise on what he believes is best for Israel and its people.
Now let’s move to the major issues that will be the driving force behind these meetings. – There are several including the Iranian nuclear problem, but the big one is getting Israel to endorse the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
Let’s talk about this for a moment. Creating a Palestinian state presents two major issues for Israel. — First, the idea of peace with the Muslim world is ludicrous! Ever since Israel became a nation in 1948, she has had to defend herself in a perpetual state of war declared by hostile neighbor nations “openly sworn to destroy her.” Here’s just a few “friendly” comments coming from these neighbors:
◆ P.A. Leader Ahmad Bahar – “Kill every American and Jew.”
◆ Iranian President Ahmadinejad – “Zionists are enemies of mankind. We will not rest until they are eliminated from the face of the Earth.”
◆ Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah – “In the near future we will witness the elimination of the cancerous germ of Israel by the mighty forces of Hezbollah.”
◆ Every Hamas leader – “We will never recognize Israel. We will be martyred first. If anyone in our organization would ever recognize the jewish state, they would quickly be eliminated from our cause.”
With these kinds of neighbors, we can see why Israel isn’t too keen on the idea of creating another “enemy state” right next door.– To speak plainly, these Muslim nations and militant groups could care less about a Palestinian state. Their whole focus is the elimination of the Jewish nation. The Palestinian cause is a “modern-day myth” and is the trojan horse of the Arab world, designed to get inside Israel by way of deception and promises of peace. — Listen to me when I say that the sworn enemies of Israel don’t want peace, they want Israel!
Benjamin Netenyahu knows this and I am absolutely amazed that Obama and his people don’t!
This once again proves Bible prophecy. Zechariah 12:1-3 talks of how Israel will stand alone in the final days leading up to Christ’s return.
Who would have thought that just a few short months ago this unfolding deterioration of Israel and America’s relationship was even possible. — Three years ago I said that in the 2008 elections, America would turn “left” and Israel would turn “right” politically. – It had to happen for prophecy to be fulfilled. — The Hebrew prophets are never wrong!!
The second major problem with this “peace” effort concerning the Palestinian state is the division of Jerusalem. — In a report issued in November of 2008, it stated that Obama favors Saudi Arabia’s peace initiative, which calls for the division of Jerusalem. In short, the initiative calls on Israel to withdraw completely to its 1949 borders in exchange for “normalized” relations with Arab League countries. It includes a full retreat from the Eastern half of Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount, and from the strategic Golan Heights in Northern Israel.
This is not going to happen! Netenyahu has sworn he will never give up the Golan Heights because it would leave Israel defenseless on their northern (Syrian) border. — We saw what happened when Israel relinquished the Gaza Strip. The Palestinians have been firing rockets into Israel ever since.
But more importantly, I don’t believe God desires Jerusalem to be split. Let’s look to scripture to see what it says:
Joel 3:17 – “Then you will know that I the lord your God, dwell in Zion, my Holy Hill. Jerusalem will be holy; never again will foreigners invade her.”
Zechariah 8:8 – “I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.”
Psalm 147:2 – “The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel.”
II Chronicles 6:6 – “But know I have chosen Jerusalem for my name to be there…”
(Also see Zechariah 8:3, I Kings 11:13, Psalm 76:1-2, Psalm 87:1-3).
God said through His prophets that Jerusalem would be the center of attention in these end times. Zechariah 14:2 states, “I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it…” – We should not be surprised by today’s events.
In conclusion, it is truly amazing that America’s current and previous administrations are pressuring Israel to agree to all of the Palestinian demands. — But then again, they, like most, don’t know scripture.
We need to fear for both our president, his people, and our country. They must be totally ignorant of the prophecies God made 2,500 years ago through the Zechariah. It applies to this precise time and situation in history. God said, “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples…” The people surrounding Jerusalem are all the current Muslim nations.
As predicted, they have become intoxicated over possessing Jerusalem. – Like drunken people, their emotions, inflamed with religious zeal, are causing them to do unwise, reckless and violent things.
These are the exact conditions Zechariah predicted would be part of the last stages of this age. He continues, “And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples…” meaning the entire world. Now here’s the clincher: “All who would seek to heave it away will surely be cut to pieces.” (Zechariah 12:1-3) – The original Hebrew makes the meaning of this even clearer. It reveals that everyone who tries to remove the heavy burden of the Jerusalem crisis will be utterly destroyed for getting involved with it.
I pray that somehow this message will get through to President Obama and his people. This prophecy applies to this very moment in which we live. — And in light of what they are trying to force on Israel, it applies to them personally as well as our entire nation.
“So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” (Matthew 24:33-34)
Till next time,
May 8, 2009
In my “Second Chance” commentary last week, I mentioned how today’s news headlines reminded me of reading a prophecy newsletter discussing the coming events portrayed by the four horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6). — I also mentioned how world governments were coming together to fight famine, war, pestilence and death.
Since that writing, I’ve dwelt on almost nothing else. As a matter of fact, I’ve been listening to the hoofbeats getting louder with each passing day. It reminds me of a great man of God named Elbert Peak. During a bible prophecy conference held in Orlando, Florida back in the 1990’s, he was one of the speakers and was assigned the topic, “Signs of the Times.” Mr. Peak was eighty years old and he began his presentation by observing, “Sixty years ago when I first started preaching, you had to scratch around like a chicken to find one sign of the Lord’s soon return. But today, there are so many signs I’m no longer looking for them. Instead, I’m listening for a sound — the sound of the trumpet!”
The Bible says we cannot know the time of the Lord’s return (Matthew 25:13), but the scriptures make it equally clear that we can know the season of the Lord’s return.
I Thessalonians 5:2-6 states, “You yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night…but you brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief, for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night or darkness, so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.”
This passage asserts that Jesus is coming like “A thief in the night.” But then it proceeds to make it clear that this will be true only for the pagan world and not for believers. His return should be no surprise to those who know Him and his word, for they have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to give them understanding of the nature of the times.
Having said that, let’s for a moment review the signs of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse — famine, war, pestilence and death.
Matthew 24:7-8 says, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” (Also see Mark 13:8 and luke 21:11)
This is a crisis of almost Biblical proportions with almost one billion people living with permanent hunger. Ministers from the world’s largest producers and consumers of food met in Italy just last week to try and come up with solutions on how to avert a permanent food crisis of an unprecedented scale. Additionally, a report prepared by the G8 for it’s first – ever food summit meeting warns of “structural” problems in world food markets that risk war and famine — unless food output is doubled in twenty years. “Immediate interventions are required!”
In an unrelated report from Ag Weekly, it reports that a virulent strain of wheat stem rust, UG-99, that first surfaced in Africa in 1999, has now spread into Iran and threatens to spread into other wheat-producing regions of Asia, and eventually, the entire world. It goes on to say that UG-99 infected plants may suffer up to 100% loss. — If this continues to spread as expected, you can forget about one billion hungry people. The number will go much higher!
Luke 21:9 says, “When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.” (Also see Matthew 24:6 and Mark 13:8)
Violence has always been part of the human condition. Cain killed Abel in the first murder. More than 15,000 wars have been the scourge of every generation since Noah and his family left the ark.
Wars waged by the likes of the ancient Assyrians, Egyptians, Babylonians, Medes, Persians, Alexander’s Greek Empire, and the Roman Empire brought tremendous bloodshed down through the millennia. – but it was the 20th Century, with World Wars I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and others that continue into the 21st Century that spawned the level of violence that equates to the worldwide violence spoken of in scripture. — And with this continuing escalation of “Wars and rumors of wars” spoken of in Matthew 24:6, who lies directly in the middle of it all today? — You guess it — tiny Israel.
Luke 21:20 says, “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.” –This is another of the amazing prophecies of the signs of the end. — Think of it! Remember that since the days of Babylon, Israel wasn’t even a nation. But we saw that all change in May of 1948. And now this tiny little nation of God’s chosen people is the center of world attention. — And are they surrounded by the armies of the world? – Absolutely!! — Scripture will never fail us.
Luke 21:11 states, “There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great sign from Heaven.” (Also see Matthew 24:2 — love grows cold; Matthew 24:21 — great distress; Mark 13:8 — earthquakes).
First, what does this word mean? Webster’s says of pestilence, 1) A deadly epidemic disease/plague; 2) Anything regarded as harmful.
To start with, for the first time in four decades, the world is dealing with the threat of an influenza pandemic. Granted, so far it hasn’t amounted to much, but it could return in a much stronger form this fall.
The last pandemic was the 1968-69 Hong Kong flu which killed an estimated one million people. That, however, was mild compared to the 1918 Spanish flu which may have killed as many as fifty million people.
In addition, the Australian reports of a new drug-resistant malaria strain found in Cambodia. It goes on to report that this disease has the potential to go global. Currently the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) is mobilizing to eradicate it.
And just one more for now, W.H.O. is urging countries where T.B. is prevalent to take urgent action to curb the spread of this new, drug-resistant form of the disease. — Addressing a meeting on April 1st, W.H.O. Director-General Margaret Chan said the world faced a “precarious situation” due to the emergence and spread of drug-resistant T.B.
One more area we should quickly explore in the “Pestilence” category is the world economic and political unrest. — Here’s just a few headlines in just the past ten days:
The Telegraph (UK) — Germany’s Slump Risks “Explosive” Mood as Second Banking Crisis Looms–
MSNBC — May Day Turns Violent Across Europe —
Eurobserver.com — Eurogroup Chief Predicts Huge Lay-Offs — Could Trigger Major Demonstrations —
Yahoo!News — World Bank: Economic Crisis Turning into Calamity —
World Net Daily — IMF Warns: Economic Riots — Police Prepare for Unrest —
UN News Service — Economic Crisis Could Trigger Political Instability and Social Unrest —
Now, even though we are hearing that things will get better soon, I’m not buying it. — Yes, we will see a brief upturn for a very short period, but the world economic fundamentals have not changed. — It is my opinion that we will see a “Summer of Rage” across this planet. — God is telling us time is short — This pestilence all around us Him telling us to, “Be ready at all times”.
Revelation 6:7-8 states, “When the lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, ‘Come!’ I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by wild beasts of the earth.”
Death is a fairly self-explanatory condition. It is also the culmination of all the previously mentioned conditions taking place all around us.
But just remember, those of us who are saved need not fear the natural death because it is only temporary. I Corinthians 15:54-55 says,
“.…Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, O Death, is your victory?
Where, O Death, is your sting?”
Matthew 24:37-39 says, “As it is in the days of Noah, so it will be at the Coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; And they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.“
Do you hear the hoofbeats? Are they getting louder?
Daniel 12:8-9 states, “I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, ‘My Lord, what will the outcome of all this be?’ He replied, ‘Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.‘”
As the signs of the times continue to unfold, it shows us how close we are to our Lord’s return. He told us we would understand in these last days.
What should we be doing? Stay vigilant and prepared at all times — And we Christians who know this should be making every effort to reach the lost. Time is extremely short, so let’s get to it!
II Peter 3:9 states, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.“
It is our Lord’s desire not to lose anyone.
‘Til next time,
