If there was any doubt left in my mind about our nation’s “moral measuring stick”, this week pretty much took care of it. – It all started while my wife and I were watching a new TV series called “Flash Forward”. – We’d been watching it for several weeks and it seemed somewhat interesting — and then, out of nowhere, one woman gets up from the table, leans over and kisses another woman — right on prime-time TV!
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but we were actually shocked at how blatant and in-your-face it was. — Of course, being the “prudish, old fashioned” Christians we are, we immediately turned it off and cancelled the season recording on our DVR.
Oh — but it’s only just begun! — A few nights later, Adam Lambert of “American Idol” fame, while performing on the American Music awards and again on prime-time, displayed deviant sexual acts including leading males around on leashes, pushing another male’s face into his crotch, and then kissing his male keyboard player full-mouthed. — Remember, this is a show that reaches a mostly younger audience.
But wait — I’m still not finished! — Also this past weekend we saw the movie release, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, score the third largest opening weekend of all time. The movie earned over $140 million.
Why is this so disturbing? – It involves a love triangle which includes a young teenage girl, a vampire and a werewolf. – Talk about dark characters out of the depths of Hell. – The real tragedy is that this movie’s audience is made up of 80% young teenage girls. — As one observer appropriately commented, “Watching this is like selling your soul for puppy love.”
2 Timothy 2:16-17 says, “Shun profane and idle babbling, for they will increase to ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer.
This scripture tells us that if this blatant disrespect for the common laws of decency are allowed, it will “spread like cancer” — and it is! These three entertainment “opportunities” took place in just the past few days! — It used to be occasional, but now it is constant. – This is the problem with sin – it is very progressive in nature. When we as a society allow room for one “minor sin”, one of a more evil nature will quickly follow, ultimately evolving into a raging fire.
So we blinked, and now the evil forces are pressing in upon us — and we wonder why? — One example would be our nation’s political leaders. While most profess the Christian faith, they have an odd way of displaying it.
Let’s take a moment and review the satanic influences that were on display in the U.S. House of Representatives back in May of this year when they voted 249-175 to grant special rights to those who choose to practice homosexuality, an activity that God’s word, the Bible, condemns as an abominable sin. — The U.S. government thus took a tragic step toward the abyss, with the entire nation in tow.
We in America are confronted right now with massive economic and social problems unparalleled in our history – yet the harder our leaders work at solving our problems, the more trillions they spend attempting to rescue our economy, the worse the problems become. – Why? Because they continue to ignore the fundamental principle which ultimately determines the success or failure of nations. Simply, when humans reject God and refuse to believe and follow His word, they are left to their own devices – which eventually always fail, for “There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12.
So, at the most basic level, our problems are not really economic, social or political — they are spiritual! – America has forsaken God – we have rejected Him and His rule both as individuals and as a nation.
And what about the church in all this? – From my own experience I’ve watched the church evolve from the “eternal security” false teachings of the 50’s and 60’s to the more modern “get rich” wealth theology, or “be a better you” feel-good – itching ear messages — all of which are shallow and have no lasting foundation for the times we are facing.
Over these past several years, I’ve visited many different churches of varying denominations and have experienced some good music, great humor, superb presentations, patriotism — but rarely did I ever hear anything that would make me wonder if my salvation was at stake – that my very soul could be in jeopardy.
While I realize that nobody wants to hear they’re “going to Hell” every five minutes, it still needs to be presented as a reality for a sinful lifestyle.
For the wages of sin is death…(Romans 6:23)
Matthew 7:21-23 states,
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
We watch as our society has become a modern-day Sodom & Gomorrah — and we must remember that no nation has ever survived when reduced to this level of sin and debauchery.
All this moral erosion tells me that tribulation judgement is coming soon. At some point, God is going to say, “Enough is enough!” and will begin to pour out His vengeance on this evil nation and world.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 says, “But you brethren, are not in darkness, so that this day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
Until next time,

It would seem to some that current ongoing prophetic events are moving very slowly in the world today. – Many seem to think that we are in a lull of some sort.
Having said that, in preparing this week’s line-up of prophetic news headlines, I came across several articles that would refute this position.
First, Syrian President Bashar Assad has been rattling his sword at Israel, claiming that if the Golan Height are not returned peacefully, Syria will turn to resistance.
Now — couple this with the current ongoing inspection of a nuclear research reactor in Damascus and this prophetic plot really thickens.
Isaiah 17:1 states,
An oracle concerning Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
Understand that Damascus is one of the oldest cities on Earth and has never been destroyed. – Remember also that in the not-too-distant past, Israel wiped out an alleged nuclear site on Syrian soil.
With Syria becoming more militant toward Israel by the hour in conjunction with developing nuclear capabilities in and around Damascus, this prophecy is surely due to come to pass.
Second, let’s take a look at Turkey. Up until recently, she always had a decent relationship with Israel. In fact, it was the only predominantly Muslim nation that had a generally positive outlook toward the Jewish state.
But not now. In a seemingly abrupt about-face, Turkey now is verbally attacking Israel on just about every front. In fact, just this week, Turkey’s foreign minister blamed Israel for preventing any “peace progress” because of her “threats of violence” toward her adversaries.
In addition to this, Turkey has been cozying up to Iran and Russia, something that she has not done before.
Remember, these developments are consistent with Bible prophecies found in Ezekiel 38-39 which indicate that in the “last days”, Turkey (identified in the prophecies as “Gomer” and part of “Beth Togarmah”) will join a Russian-Iranian (Persian) alliance against Israel.
— I am watching this event with great interest!
Third is the continuing decline in America’s position and stature on the global scene. As difficult as this is for many of you to accept, it is the progression of prophecy before our very eyes.
Truly, America has had a pivotal role in world events since her inception some 233 years ago, one of which was the role of protector to Israel as she re-emerged as a nation in the last century.
However, as the world marches ever-closer to a global political landscape, America’s position has to decrease in order for this to take place. — A single super-power doesn’t fit into the prophetic picture.
Also interesting in the prophetic overview of events is how America, in addition to her economic woes, has taken a 180° turn in her support of Israel. — I truly believe that as long as America stood by Israel, she would be spared God’s wrath. — But with the shift in support of the Jewish state along with her current moral decay, this once-great nation faces untold woes in the  final days to come.
Fourth, is the emergence of the European union, prophetically known as the revived Roman Empire. With each passing day, as America declines, the E.U. grows in strength, both economically and militarily.
What’s extremely interesting on this front is the two “positions of power” that are emerging on the scene. One, of course, is  president, but the other is “E.U. foreign minister”. — In an article out of Brussels this week, it stated that this position would have unprecedented foreign policy clout as well as great financial means. — The article went on to say that it would be difficult politically and would take a “super-human” to manage all of the aspects of the office.
Did you hear what I just heard?! – Some of us prophecy “nut jobs” believe that the coming world ruler will emerge in the very near future and the E.U. will be his power base. — These new positions seem perfectly suited for this apparent “super-human”.
And fifth is, of course, the ongoing and rapidly advancing isolation of Israel. Her few friends and neighbors who either supported, or at least accepted her existence, are now beginning to distance themselves from her. – The U.S. and Turkey are prime examples.
In addition, the U.N. Security Council continues to condemn Israel at what appears to be the only “human rights” violator on planet Earth. – Only God’s design for these times could blind so many to this claim.
Zechariah 12:3 tells us of how Israel will be surrounded by all nations in the end of days. — With America’s current position and Turkey’s recent turn, can you think of anyone who truly supports her?
— I thought not. —
Do you still think the prophetic wheels are turning slowly? – All who have prophetic-attuned ears will strongly disagree. – The clock is ticking and everything is rapidly coming into its prophetic place for the soon-triumphant return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
These are difficult and scary times we live in. 2 Timothy 3:1-4 sums it up perfectly by saying,
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
It’s true that our world is wallowing in despair today. We live in a society plagued by abortion, homosexuality, domestic violence, child abuse and molestation, blasphemy, pornography, drug abuse and on and on…
In Jesus’ teachings concerning last-day conditions, He says in Matthew 24:12 that, “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” — Notice He says most, but not all.
This is a time where we Christians rise up to meet the needs of those who have turned “cold” because of what is taking place all around them. — Pardon the pun, but we need to be the “light in the darkness” that prevails against Satan’s last stand.
John 14:27 says,
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Until next time,

What has happened to our once-great country that just a short time ago was proud to be “under God”?
It is truly amazing to watch what has taken place in the general over-all mentality of our government over just these past 12 months. – As an example, let’s look at some of the President’s appointed advisers. When a closer look is taken, it’s astounding to see who he has surrounded himself with.
Let’s start with regulatory czar Cass Sunstein, who defends the removal of organs from terminally ill patients without their permission. – Or Obama’s choice of school-safety czar, gay activist Kevin Jennings, who actually pioneered the practice of introducing homosexual advocacy into public schools by disguising it as “school safety!” – or science czar John Holdron, who has advocated sterilizing Welfare recipients and seizing babies born to unwed mothers, and predicted one billion people would die in “carbon-dioxide induced famines” caused by – are you ready? – a coming new ice age.
There’s also people like Equal Opportunity Commission nominee Chai Feldblum, who endorses polygamy, and Aids czar Jeffrey Crowley – both openly homosexual. In fact, the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute boasts on its website that at least 60 “LGBT” leaders have secured spots in the Obama administration.
And the list goes on and on.
But before we more on, let’s not forget Van Jones, Obama’s “green jobs czar” who was forced to resign in the middle of the night, following widely publicized revelations that he was a self-proclaimed communist and racist conspiracy-theorist.
And we wonder why we are going through such difficult times. —
America has been steadily slipping into the pool of  moral decadence for quite some time and this current hive of secular villains is just the culmination of an ongoing march toward self destruction.
And we, the public, are responsible for it! It seems we’ve turned our backs on all things moral and upright.
Let’s for a moment ask ourselves how we elect leaders who openly support issues that are contrary to the laws of the God we claim to follow. For example, candidate Obama stated quite clearly that he supported abortion and homosexual lifestyles.
Now I ask this question — statistics and polls support that close to 90% of Americans claim to be of the Christian faith. — How then can we go to the polls and elect those who openly go against the teachings of this same God?
I’ve heard many thoughts on this such as “You’re old fashioned”, or “The teachings of the Apostle Paul are out-dated”, or a young student of theology stating, “Our generation gets it.” — Even statements like, “We must modernize or we will die from within”.
I remember a conversation I had with a pastor back in the early ’80’s who made such a statement about the teachings of the Apostle Paul. – My response was, “If that were true, where then do we draw the line?” — There was no response then nor will there be one today. If we were given these liberties to alter all scripture that makes us “uncomfortable” or, “doesn’t fit our present-day lifestyles”, then I would submit that we would have a convoluted Bible which would ultimately be declared worthless.
This same Apostle wrote in his 2nd Letter to Timothy, 4:3-4 —
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Here Paul tells us what would happen in these days. If you are totally honest with yourself, you would have to agree. – The leaders in today’s church, for the most part, are handing out this “itching ear” theology that is not enough to reach those who are lost. – Most messages spoken in today’s “sanctuaries” revolve around safe, non-challenging subjects as opposed to the message of salvation that teaches the reality of the cost of following our Savior Jesus Christ.
In Revelation 3:14-22, the teachings of Jesus concerning the seventh church of Laodicea, supports this by saying how rich and complacent it had become, the results of which he says, “So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (vs. 16)
To sum up this current mentality concerning today’s church, I recently met with a pastor friend and he was telling me how difficult it was to be a pastor of a church in these times. — How attendance and tithing were way down. —
Since then, this comment has troubled me because I believe that these are the times that a church should thrive. — As we continue to march ever closer to the end of “The times of the Gentiles,” the needs of Christ’s flock will only grow greater. I think that this should be a time of renewal for an otherwise rich and dead church. The spiritual needs will be great and this is when the true leaders will go forth in great anticipation to meet these needs. — Many souls are waiting for the “good news of Jesus Christ”.
Finally, getting back to the condition of our government and its leaders, America is no longer “good” when her citizens fail to hold to account their representatives who go so far contrary to God’s will.
Matthew 24:21-22)
Hebrews 3:13 says,
“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
Until next time,
