“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed HOPE – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” .. Titus 2:11-13 (NIV – emphasis mine) ……

As this world continues to spin more & more out of control, as Bible prophecy told us it would, it is becoming much more difficult for people of this day to find any hope – to find something to grab on to – and if we stop for just a moment, it’s easy to see why. .. There’s an oppressive weight  bearing down on almost every facet of our lives. ..  World conditions such as war, famine disease, increasing weather pestilences, societal upheaval, persecution .. the list is endless. .. The “birth pains” spoken of by Jesus Himself in Matthew 24:8 concerning the end of days are coming true right before our eyes!  .. Simply, our personal lives we’ve grown accustomed to are vanishing. .. Even the institutions we’ve long trusted are evaporating at dizzying speed! ..

I sounds so positive, don’t I?? .. So now let’s get to the “Hopelessness be Damned” part. .. The bottom line is that no ‘normal’ human being can find any reason to be positive in this crazy world .. that is, unless they have something to hold on to .. something that’s real and gives them the hope & knowledge of better things to come. .. And what is that? .. One of the good things about being a student of Bible prophecy is that we know the troubles of this life are quickly drawing to a close. .. The prophecies teach us that though we will go through very difficult times at the culmination of this age, a perfect & wonderful world is just ahead! .. We know that if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior, we will see our departure as imminent. .. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Trumpet of salvation is going to blow at any time & it will all change in the twinkling of an eye! .. Hallelujah! ..

I found this poem on the web that talks about this hope. .. Let me share it with you now ……

“I read of the wonders of Heaven above – In the place He’s preparing for me ..
no sickness or sorrow can enter that land – And I wanted its beauty to see ..

“Yet I needed Christ’s help just to cope with each task – That life with its cares
..sent my way ..

Through triumphs and failures that filled up my years – My Heaven seemed
..ages away ..

“But now that I’m living my winter of life – I find not a day will go by ..
Without precious thoughts of my Heavenly home – And my meeting with
..Christ in the sky ..

“I’ll see all my loved ones who’ve gone on before – And I’ll sing with the
..Heavenly throng ..

I’ll have a new body with no aches and pains – And I’ll worship my Lord all
..day long ..

“Each day brings me closer to life’s curtain call – When the face of my Lord I
will see ..

I’ll no longer be homesick, for I will be home – And with Jesus forever I’ll be ..”

While this short poem appears to deal  with someone of an older age, it does apply to everyone in today’s world. .. No matter what age we are in the present, this world we now live in will soon vanish, and finally we will have the perfect world that we all long for, with a King of Kings that will never fail us! .. Seems impossible to some of you, I know, but it IS coming, & it is real! ……

Let me close with this passage from 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 …. “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,  4) who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  5) For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6) If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation;  if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.  7) And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.”

Many of you out there are really discouraged right now. .. Even many of us who know Jesus Christ have moments of despair. .. But all we have to do is turn our faces to the one & only real & true hope .. to comfort us now, and then to share with those who do not know of this hope. .. Simply, there is a way out of this mess, and quite frankly. I’m weary of all this negative stuff! … So my cry is this ….. HOPELESSNESS BE DAMNED! ……

Know that I am praying for each & every one of you, & Jesus knows exactly who you are! … Hallelujah! ..

“As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.  For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;  and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.  That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” .. Matthew 24:37-39 (NIV) …

This scripture so reminds me of today’s world! .. I mean, people are totally oblivious as to what is taking place all around them! .. The world is racing toward a violently climatic disruption and few seem to notice, or even appear to really care. …

Shifting back to Noah’s time for a moment, can we even imagine what people were thinking about him? .. Here’s a guy building a huge boat on the side of a mountain, for heaven’ s sake (no pun intended), and yet people were going on their merry ways not even curious?! .. This should have indicated to at least some that something of a different nature was coming, but oh well ….. I’m quite sure he was the butt of many jokes & that scoffers galore were ripping him to shreds ……

As a ‘watchman’ of God’s prophetic word, this passage has amazing & parallel similarities concerning today’s world. .. To say the least, end-time prophetic signs are exploding all across the globe .. and yet .. most folks just seem to choose to ignore them. .. The only notice we somehow receive are those from the scoffers who seem to be growing in numbers by the day, which includes many of the well-known Christian leaders. .. But then, should I be surprised? .. 2 Peter 3:3-4 says it this way .. “First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.  They will say, ‘Where is this coming he promised?  Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.’ ” …. Bible prophecy has never been the most popular subject of choice. .. Even the original prophets of God were ridiculed & subjected to many social abuses. ..

I grew up in a time of no machines .. no internet, I-phones, laptops, smart this & that …. In fact, we didn’t even have a TV until I was 12! … So the only thing we had for communication was our mouths. .. That’s how we communicated! .. We actually had to learn to talk to one another in order to function at all. .. Not so nowadays. .. When I’m out & about, I find it so interesting to observe the LACK of verbal communication. .. One example: I was in Starbucks & there was a table of six young millennials. .. During my approximately 5 minute observation, there was NOT ONE WORD spoken between them. .. Their communication was all done on the machines! … My point is this. .. No one seems to listen or notice anything that’s taking place all around them. .. Simply, they are involved in only the world they choose to be involved in. .. In the few opportunities of discussion I’ve had with this generation, their most common answer is that they just don’t want to ‘go there!’ ..

I used to criticize these young whipper-snappers, but no longer! .. I mean, how can one blame them? .. Several have told me point blank … “why on earth would we want to dwell on the mess the world has become. .. We would much rather live in our chosen environment because it is a much safer place to ‘be.’ ” .. They’ve also said that those who have ventured out have returned full of fear & consternation. ..

This is a really sad commentary! .. I so worry & pray for those who are either ignoring it all to be ‘safe,’ or do try to deal with it all only to live in fear. .. So, my only desire in this writing is to try & provide hope to those who are living this way .. to give them a starting point to rid themselves of all of this fearful baggage they are trying to carry on their own. .. I wrote this song several years ago that I believe God gave me to share with those who will listen. .. Here it is ……

  – The Answer –

“Eyes looking out from darkness – lonely & afraid ..
searching for hope & safety – but sensing fear instead ..
Wondering what will free them – in the days to come ..
from the fear of desperation – emptiness for some ..

“Reaching to the heavens – empty & alone ..
searching for an answer – of something that’s unknown ..
Hope seems only fleeting – when faced with despair ..
Grasping for an answer – but finding nothing there ..

   “Now they’re running to & fro – everywhere ..
so many seem to have the answer – here & there ..
They’re looking to the wisdom – of this age ..
But answers always seem to lie – on a different page ..

“But there is hope – there is love ..
just beyond – the edges of their gaze ..
There is peace – there’s an answer ..
this is the beginning – of a better day ..
Jesus is the answer – He’s the only way ..

I know that being a ‘watchman’ in today’s world is not popular .. & I also know that most will never read or see this …….. but someone will! .. and my prayer is that it will start them on a journey that will completely & totally free them from all the fears & tribulations of this crazy world. .. In what appears to be hopeless to many, there is a way to complete freedom, and that is simply believing that Jesus Christ is real, and that He is soon coming back to fix this mess we’ve made. .. My prayer is that this brief commentary will spark someone’s interest in looking further into the only truth out there … Jesus Christ! … Hallelujah!

Simply put, this year’s presidential election is driving me nuts! .. And sadly, it’s not only me. .. From all indications, it’s tearing the country apart .. a country that is already suffering from growing social unrest, renewed racism, rapidly increasing mental disorders .. the list goes on & on ……  The whole political rhetoric seems to be solely centered around completely negative things such as sexual misbehavior, personal health problems, bullying, name-calling .. you name it, if it’s in the ‘negative’ playbook, it’s being brought forward to destroy any and all credibility of EVERYONE! .. To me, the real tragedy here is the missed opportunity for a more healing message from either political party that would help stop the rapid deterioration of a once-productive nation. ..

Having said that, my focus is based more upon how our Christian leaders are responding to this whole debacle. .. It would seem, especially after looking at this week’s comments, that more & more of them are crawling upon the ‘Trump Train’ for the sole purpose of defeating Hillary Clinton. .. The general feeling is that even though Donald Trump isn’t maybe the best choice, at least he is the lesser of two evils in their eyes! … Unbelievable! .. To me, this is like choosing Ba’al over Lucifer! .. As I’ve said so many times in the past, evil is evil, no matter how one tries to justify it. ..

The tragedy that Christian leaders are portraying in America today is just how much this ‘nationalist’ movement is destroying the Church. .. It would seem that they are willing to discard any or all of the Bible’s truths in order to advance this ultimately fatal agenda. .. I sometimes want to weep when I witness the pure hypocrisy of these people! .. I mean, one Sunday they will profess ‘separation of Church & State,’ while on the next Sunday they will be promoting a certain candidate or agenda that directly relates to the State! .. What?! .. Guess having it both ways helps them increase their own personal power & popularity while also keeping them involved in federal tax-savings programs. .. Wow!… Again, the hypocrisy is mind-boggling! ..

Let me share a paragraph I used in the “Prayer or Politics” commentary from 2012 to emphasis the fallacy of the ‘Separation of Church & State’ issue … “As for the political side of this ‘separation,’ I could care less .. but it does concern me when it comes to our Christian walk if and when we should become involved in the political process. .. So to start, I went to Webster’s Dictionary and looked up the word ‘separation.’ .. The most apparent definitions were:  being separated; break apart; division; living apart; disunite; to severe; not associated … OK, so now for a moment, let’s pretend that I am going to run for office. .. If I’m elected, it won’t be so bad. .. I only have to leave the Lord at home each day to wait for me because He’s not allowed at work. .. Again, that’s not so bad. .. After all, I can spend time with Him some evenings and most always on Sunday mornings. ……. You get the point. .. Isn’t it obvious? .. To be totally true to our Lord & Savior, we should NEVER separate Him from anything! .. The result for compromise will ultimately lead to destruction!

I know I’m addressing a very sensitive topic here with many of you .. so .. the only way for me to support my thoughts is to bring forth scripture. .. First of all, we Christians, if we follow the truth, will NOT be considered very popular in this society, or any where else for that matter. .. 1 Peter 1:1 says,  “To God’s elect, strangers in the world…” .. John 15:18-19 says,  “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.  As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.  That is why the world hates you.”

As for our Christian leaders, it is my humble opinion that if at any time they openly support ungodly persons/agendas, there is no defense for it. .. In fact the defenses I am hearing today fall into the ‘pathetic’ category! .. 1 Timothy 4:1 says,  “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” ..

There are so many more scriptures I could share with you, but for the sake of time, let’s move forward. .. Now even though some will feel like they are helpless without the human political process, I want to show you that you are not. .. We have many weapons to fight with, but they are of a different nature that the worldly person can relate to. .. Ephesians 6:12 tells us this .. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.”  .. One more .. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says it clearly .. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” ..

In closing, I want to encourage each of you to stay strong in these increasingly difficult days. .. Also remember that Jesus tells us that we will NOT be accepted .. “I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. .. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” .. John 17:14-16 … These are Jesus’ own words .. the ‘Red Letters’ ……

But Jesus also tells us this .. “In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” .. Hallelujah! … The bottom line is this. .. If we know who the true Savior is, and we try our best to follow the blueprint for salvation that He has given us, we have NOTHING to fear. .. No, we won’t be winning any popularity contests, but oh well, our victory lies with Him in eternal life filled with joy & happiness! .. Again, hallelujah! …
