“I was walking along – see a man on the street with wild eyes

His hair was long & tangled – his clothes were torn

a sight to our surprise ..

He’s preachin’ of the changes – that’s soon to come to all –  thru his prophecies

It’s coming soon he tells us – there’s nothing we can do

    It’s destiny ..

When it’s over – he tried to tell us what would happen then

When it’s over – we’d all be left alone without a friend

When it’s over – look out now! – It’s gonna happen soon

      When it’s over ……

He seems to be thru now – the crowd that had gathered walks away

The looks on their faces – seemed to show that they listened

    to his play ..

The thoughts that he echoed – made us all look at what – we’ve become

Just maybe there’s somethin’ – ’bout what he said

and what’s got to be done ..

When it’s over – he tried to tell us what would happen then

When it’s over – we’d all be left alone without a friend

When it’s over – look out now! – It’s gonna happen soon

      When it’s over ……”

I wrote these lyrics back in the late 1980s. .. We had reformed ‘Redeye” of former early 70s days & recorded an album, of which this song – “When it’s Over” – was a part. .. As some of you are already aware, I got ‘caught up’ in Bible prophecy in the late 70’s & these lyrics were obviously an offshoot of that passion. ..

Anyway. what I want you to notice is the last verse where its says “The looks on their faces – seemed to show that they listened to his play.” .. The point? .. People were still paying some attention to Bible prophecy in those days! .. In fact, there seemed to be a desire among many to seek it out as the world was starting its obvious acceleration into darker days ahead. .. Even many churches back then were teaching prophecy as a regular part of their messages. ..

Fast-forward some 30 years to now & we are seeing an entirely different ‘spiritual’ landscape. .. In fact, Bible prophecy has become, for the most part, a ‘thing of the past.’ .. People just don’t want to hear it anymore! .. Why? .. Surveys & polls show that the subject makes them feel ‘uneasy’ & ‘uncomfortable’ .. & what’s really sad? .. most all now feel that it is completely ‘outdated!” .. Wow! .. An even more tragic is the fact that over 90% of today’s churches have all but eliminated prophecy, which happens to be some one-third of the entire Bible! .. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 30:10 .. “.. Say to the seers, do not see, and to the prophets, do not prophesy to us right things;  Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.” .. Pretty plain …….

What I’ve discovered in general conversations with various pastors & church leaders from many different denominations is that most now feel that prophecy is just ‘to controversial’ & it’s much easier to avoid it! .. In addition to that, they also say that it ‘chases people away’ because it makes them nervous, primarily because it speaks of so much judgement. ..  .. Again, WOW! .. Heaven forbid if there may be consequences to the way we may be living! …

One more fact worth mentioning is that the cemeteries, I mean seminaries, are not teaching prophecy any more. .. One classic example of this is when a young pastor in the not too distant past asked me if I had any notes on the Seven Churches of Revelation, chapters 2 & 3. .. He said he wanted to do a brief teaching on this but had received virtually no prophetic instruction during his time in seminary. ..  The sad truth here is the fact that this young leader was in charge of a congregation of people & had received virtually NO instruction on a huge part of the Holy Scriptures! ..

In these “Days of Noah” (Matthew 24:37-39) we are witnessing this truth full force. .. People are going about their lives choosing to be oblivious to the truths of what the prophets foretold. .. The world is utterly falling apart & people are ignoring it! .. a third WOW! .. The prophet Daniel (I love this guy!) foretold in his chapter 12, verse 4 .. “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end;  many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”  .. Sounds exactly like today’s world doesn’t it? .. and it was written some 2500 years ago! ..

The prophet Amos said this about these days .. ” ‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord God, ‘That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.’ ” (8:11) .. Isn’t this also the truth today? .. Both the masses & the vast majority of Church leaders are ignoring the truth of the prophets! .. Think this has anything to do with what is happening in the world today? .. Why the darkness is increasing exponentially by the moment?! .. Simple proof of this fact is the history of Israel. .. Every time they turned their backs on God, we saw what happened to them … destruction of their society & nation! .. Are we exempt! .. I think not! ……

Here’s the simple truth. .. We are seeing our society coming apart at the seems! .. We are seeing an epidemic of suicides & drug use of which we have never witnessed before! .. Hatred & division is at an all-time high! .. Why? .. Because our God has been removed from our midst as a nation, and the few of us, the remnant, that hangs on to the truths of God’s teachings are now considered the haters & the cause of all the world’s ills! .. A forth WOW! … The evil “roaring lion” of 1 Peter 5:8 is running at full speed devouring the unaware masses that leave themselves vulnerable to his ways. .. How utterly tragic! ..

In closing, I do know that Bible prophecy can be difficult at times because it doesn’t always paint a rosy picture of what is coming upon this world right now. .. But isn’t this a reality? .. Don’t we realize that yes, there are consequences for bad choices? .. Both good & evil DO exist. .. Wouldn’t one want to know how to recognize the evil & then use the good to defeat it?! ..

Bible prophecy, if given even half a chance, can bring hope to many of you in this increasingly hopeless world. .. Just look at what the Apostle Peter tells us .. “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.” .. (1 Peter 1:19) … Simply, truth brings light & hope …

Just remember .. there is hope for each & every one of you! .. All you have to do is turn your face to the one & only thing that can bring you this hope .. Jesus Christ! .. All His prophets & watchmen are doing is ringing the alarm bell to tell as many as possible that time is very, very short & that we must get our ‘spiritual houses in order before it’s too late. .. The good thing? .. There is still time! .. Hallelujah!! ….

Until next time,

“So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness.  And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and 10 horns. 4) The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5) And on her forehead a name was written:

Mystery, Babylon The Great,
The Mother Of Harlots
And Of The Abominations
Of The Earth.”
Revelation 17:3-5 – NKJV

I’ve had several requests of late asking about this subject. .. While it would be entirely impossible to portray this completely in a commentary form, I will do my best to at least give you an overview of this controversial but soon-coming reality – a unified world church that will partner with the also soon-arriving world leader, commonly known today as the antichrist. .. I pray this will answer some of the questions being asked. .. Here we go …………………….

Revelation, verse 5 speaks of the name of a woman. .. Upon the forehead of the woman was written her name described as “Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother of Harlots And Abominations of The Earth.” .. It is commonly held that the title ‘Babylon The Great’ assigned to this woman is not a reference to Babylon as a city or to Babylonia as a nation, but a ‘religious’ designation, namely, that the woman corresponds ‘religiously’ to what Babylon was religiously. .. The meaning is made clear by her description as “The Mother of Harlots and Abominations of The Earth.” .. It has been noted by many writers that the iniquities and pagan rites of Babylon crept into the early Church and were largely responsible for the corruptions incorporated in Roman Catholicism from which Protestantism separated itself in the middle ages. …

It all started when the ‘unholy alliance’ of Church and State resulted, which began in the early part of the 4th century. .. Constantine, Emperor of Rome, assumed leadership of the Church and pagan temples became Christian churches. .. Constantine then became ‘Pontifex Maximus.’ .. Out of this alliance between the Roman Emperor and the Christian Church came the birth of Roman Catholicism. ..

The influence of paganism on the Church increased over the years, step by step. .. The Church began to shroud itself in ‘mystery’ and ritualism that had, and still does, have a strong resemblance to Babylonian mysticism. .. Here are a few brief examples:  The Chaldean Tau, which was the elevation of a large ‘T’ on the end of a pole, was changed to the ‘Sign of the Cross’ .. The Rosary of pagan origin was introduced .. Celibacy of Priests and Nuns, which has NO scriptural verification, but finds a counterpart in the vestal virgins of paganism, was conceived. …… The following is a partial list of ‘unscriptural’ changes introduced during the centuries. ……..

*AD 300 – Prayers for the dead ..

*AD 300 – Making signs of the Cross ..

   *AD 375 – Worship of saints & angels ..

   *AD 394 – Mass first instituted ..

*AD 431 – Worship of Mary began ..

*AD 500 – Priests began dressing differently than lay people ..

*AD 593 – Doctrine of Purgatory introduced – Purgatory means a ‘state or place’ after death for expiating, or making anew, sins by sufferings ..

*AD 600 – Worship services conducted in Latin ..

*AD 600 – Prayers directed to Mary ..

*AD 607 – Boniface III became the 1st Pope ..

   *AD 709 – Kissing the Pope’s feet ..

   *AD 786 – Worshiping of images & relics ..

*AD 850 – Use of Holy Water began ..

*AD 995 – Cannonization of dead saints ..

*AD 1079 – Celibacy of the Priesthood ..

   *AD 1090 – Prayer beads ..

   *AD 1190 – Sale of ‘indulgences’ ..

*AD 1220 – Adoration of the Wafer ..

*AD 1229 – Bible forbidden to lay people ..

   *AD 1439 – Doctrine of Purgatory ..

*AD 1508 – The Ave Maria (Hail Mary) approved ..

*AD 1546 – Apocryphal books put into Bible ..

*AD 1854 – Immaculate Conception of Mary ..

*AD 1870 – Infallibility of Pope declared ..

*AD 1965 – Mary proclaimed ‘Mother of The Church’ ..

There are many, many more, but this at least gives you a glimpse of just what has taken place concerning this institution that claims some 1 billion-plus members today! .. And sadly, many of these changes in Roman Catholicism have become more prominent than the original teachings of Christianity. …

The subject of Babylon in scripture is one of the prominent themes of the Bible beginning in Genesis 10, where the city of Babel is first mentioned, and continued references throughout scripture climaxing in Revelation. .. From these various passages, it becomes clear that Babylon in scripture is the name for a great system of religious error. .. It plagued Israel in the Old Testament as well as the Church in the New Testament. .. It’s most confusing form, however, is found in Romanism. ..

Of primary importance in the study of Babylon is its relation to religion as unfolded in Revelation 17. .. The following is a brief review as to how Babylon relates to religion. .. In addition to materials given in the Bible itself, ancient accounts indicate that the wife of Nimrod, who founded the city of Babylon, became the head of the so-called Babylonian mysteries which consisted of secret religious rites which were developed as a part of the worship of idols in Babylon. ..

She was known by the name of Semiramis and was a high priestess of the idol worship. .. According to extra biblical records which have been preserved, Semiramis gave birth to a son who she claimed was conceived miraculously. .. The son, given the name of Tammuz, was considered a savior of his people and was, in effect, a false messiah, purported to be the fulfillment of the promise given to Eve. .. The legend of the mother and child was incorporated into the religious rites and is repeated in various pagan religions. .. Idols picturing the mother as the ‘Queen of Heaven’ with the babe in her arms are found throughout the ancient world, and countless religious rites were introduced supposedly promising cleansing from sin. ..

Though the rites which were observed in the Babylonian false religion differed greatly in various localities, there usually was a priestly order which furthered the worship of the mother and child, practiced the sprinkling of ‘holy water,’ and established an order of virgins dedicated to religious prostitution. .. Tammuz, the son, was said to have been killed by a wild beast and afterward brought back to life, obviously a satanic anticipation of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. ..

Concerning the Church today, it is simply an overwhelmingly sad commentary to show such an ardent desire to return to ‘Rome’ in spite of Rome’s evident apostasy from true biblical Christianity. .. On top of this, modern liberalism in today’s protestant society is making every effort to match Rome in its departure from the theology of the early Church. .. Simply, apostasy in its most blasphemous forms will flower in this emerging ‘super-church’ and will apparently engulf all Christendom in the period just after the rapture of the ‘true’ Church. ..
