It’s Thanksgiving night and I’m sitting in my quiet place, contemplating all the things that I’m thankful for. While I know that I am blessed, my thoughts are focused on those who are less fortunate.

Just this week alone, the company that I work for, considered one of the more successful in its field, laid off more than 100 people. I personally was directly involved in a number of these terminations.
During my quiet time I found myself weeping. Was it because my blood sugar was too high from the over-indulgence of my blessings? I thought for a moment — maybe — but in the end I knew it wasn’t.
It was because I mourn those who are losing their means to support their families, losing their retirements they’ve worked all their lives for — their sense of direction that once seemed so normal, secure and safe.
It was because that while this is happening they have nowhere to turn.
It was because they don’t know Jesus!
And then my tears turned to frustration and anger because our churches and their leaders have failed so miserably to prepare these folks for such a time as predicted in the scriptures — the same scriptures they profess to uphold.
I’ve said all along and for many years that the lack of teaching of Bible prophecy eaves a huge hole in a Christian’s over-all preparedness. Today’s world proves that statement.
In the many churches I’ve attended over these past few years, hardly ever did I hear about the coming times where we will be tested in many ways. Jesus spoke of the negative results of testing with His parable in Luke, chapter 8. It concerned the seeds that head no roots. Specifically in verse 13 its says, “Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they will fall away.”
In today’s seeker-friendly environment the focus appears more on attendance, budget, programs, and entertainment. While they claim it’s to produce followers of Christ, the driving force behind the emerging church is growth and prosperity. The general thinking is that these so-called seekers don’t come in the doors looking to become followers of Christ. They come to belong to something bigger than themselves where they can be entertained and feel better about themselves by doing some good works without being made to feel guilty or having to commit to anything.
Pastor David Jeremiah once said that our churches have gotten so involved in long-term programming and events that the Second Coming of Christ could well be viewed as a disruption to their plans.
Scripture says in 2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For a time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead to suit their own desires, they will father around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
And this scenario doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. I’m talking with Christian friends in other areas, most seem to be having difficulty in finding a church with a burning desire to seek Jesus, a place where they can focus on the Bible and experience some intimate worship, the kind that makes the heart break, the tears flow, and the knee bend.
Therefore, I encourage every Christian out there ‘that gets it’ to witness and share the safety, comfort, and strength that our soon-coming Messiah provides.
Just look around and you will see and find many who are seeking and need this promised hope.
Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Additionally, I Timothy 6:17 states, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.”
Finally, Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
Do not be afraid brothers and sisters! God’s promise is real and eternal.

Anyone really noticing what’s going on in California right now? I’m talking specifically about the ballot measure that voters approved that bans gay marriage.
The losing side of this measure is amazing, if you stop and think about it for a moment. They’ve long been advocating free choice and blasting any and all who don’t support, or speak against, their position.
Now that they’ve lost through the legal system they appeared to have supported, they are now protesting against anyone or any institution who would dare cross them — and much of their focus is toward the church. It reminds me of the 60’s when folks were burning and pillaging in the name of peace.
So, are these days like the days of Noah?
We hear this a lot in our day and age. That it’s like the times of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah. That we have degenerated to such a low point that God will deal with us as He did then.
In Noah’s day, society’s evil was just as bad as it was in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, only more widespread. Genesis 6:5 says, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the Earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of His heart was only evil continually.”
We see how man’s thoughts, contemplations and plans were continually on self-centered, lustful and evil objectives.
Genesis 6:11 states that the world was “filled with violence”. Verse 12 says, “All flesh had corrupted his way.”
“This has been man’s way of thinking and reasoning, substituting his way in place of God’s way. Romans 3:18 says, “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Proverbs 14:12 states, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Noah tried to warn the people of his day, but they did not listen. So God took away their miserable lives by the earth-wide flood.
Jesus said in Luke 17:28, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded.”
They were doing all these things right up to the day God destroyed their cities. Verses 29-30 says, “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.”
In other words, — that has happened!!
Let’s use an example; Today we see widespread acceptance of homosexuality. The debate now is about whether or not homosexuals can marry and this is revealing in itself. It illustrates our overwhelming acceptance of homosexual behavior.
Un-natural, unlawful sexual behavior is no longer controversial. It’s marrying each other that’s now the debate!
If it shocks someone when I say that if Jesus Christ was in charge of our nation, He wouldn’t just ban same-sex marriage,He would outlaw homosexuality! If this does shock someone, then it reveals how far their thinking is from God’s and how much of Satan’s propaganda their minds have absorbed!!!
Romans 1:26-27 says, “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions.”
!!It is God’s law!!!
Recently a pastor was quoted to admit that abortion and homosexuality were “minor concerns” at his church. “The bell we beat (he said) is that we must know Jesus.”
Know Jesus?
You mean the same Jesus who called upon sinners to repent? The same Jesus who admonished the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well to “Call thy husband”, knowing full well that she was living with a man out of wedlock? “Ye worship ye know not what,” He told the woman after she claimed to be religious (John 4:22). That Jesus?
What about the Jesus that confronted the woman caught in the act of adultery? I don’t condemn you, He said, before adding, “Go and sin no more.” (John 8:11) She wasn’t lost, but she was living in sin. And Jesus told her to stop! Shame on Him for shoving His religion down her throat.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:28 that to even look upon a woman in lust is adultery. And adultery is something we must repent repent of — or else!
Or else what? New Testament theology says that adulterers and fornicators will not inherit the Kingdom of God (I Corinthians 6:9-10).
Here’s the tragedy! Church leaders today know well that if they were to preach God’s view on morality they would lose many of their congregants.
An example of today’s evangelical stance is that while most evangelicals would like to see Christian morality as the ruling law of the nation, they also believe Americans should be free to live the way they choose.
The bottom line is that evangelicals today subscribe, in large part, to personal faith as paramount — you can’t shove religion down people’s throats.
Let’s put ourselves in the congregation at Corinth. You’re sitting there before services in the spring of A.D. 55, and find out that a guest pastor wrote a lengthy letter that will be read as the sermon for the day.
“Fantastic!” you think to yourself. “We get to hear from God’s Apostle today. And then — BAM!!
Paul rebukes the entire congregation for allowing fornication in the church (I Corinthians 5:1). He then publicly ex-communicates the known offender and asks the brethren pointedly, “Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?” (verse 6)
This is Christianity 101, he says. If we begin to tolerate such blatant disregard for God’s laws in our midst, then that rebellious, define-faith-your-own-way attitude will infect the whole congregation.
Paul instructs, cast out the offender and don’t even communicate with them (verse 9). He then asks, “Don’t you know that adulterers and fornicators will not inherit the Kingdom of God? In other words, this is fundamental!
It’s also deadly serious! Why aren’t our leaders today willing to risk personal gain for the sake of telling their flocks the truth?
Now imagine this same Paul, whose body was visibly marred by the multiple beatings, stonings and whippings, starting a mega church where Christians were free to live the way they choose. Imagine the same servant of God, who “knew Jesus”, saying that abortion, homosexuality, adultery and fornication were of “minor concern”?
Entertainment and building up people’s self-esteem — that’s what really fills the seats!
2 Timothy 4:3-4 says, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears” and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Isaiah 30:9-10 states, “Because of their own lusts, people simply will not hear the law of God. They want to be told ‘smooth things’.”
And leaders today — under the heavy influence of our secularist, anti-God, moral-relavist culture — seem more than happy to oblige them.
Many theologians, preachers, minsters, teachers, who ought to be society’s moral leaders, have forsaken the creator God and have become society’s followers.
Finally, as Jesus said in Matthew 10:15, it will be more tolerable for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah when they are resurrected in the Day of Judgment than it will be for those cities that reject God’s warning in this end time.
I encourage each of us today to look deeply into ourselves and repent of any sin that is lurking within us.
Jesus our King, will forgive and free us from anything that is hindering our walk with Him. Freedom is only in the asking.
Until next time,

So, should I be upset with the election results? In my old life, I would have been but in my new life in Jesus, it matters not to me. He has put into office who He’s chosen to be there. It is now my duty and Christian responsibility to pray for him (I Timothy 1-2) and all the other leaders that have been strategically placed in God’s overall plan.
The one thing that I am happy about is that America is becoming colorblind. This is a good thing! I was blessed because I was raised by a mother who taught me never to judge someone by the color of their skin or where they were from. I’ll be eternally grateful to her for that.
But, how might this election play out on our national life as well as the prophetic scene?
First of all, with the election results in, we are seeing one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in the history of this nation. Liberals will dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965 when L.B.J. took office, or 1933, the beginning days of F.D.R. and eventually, The New Deal.
But there is one glaring difference – the Democratic party of today is far more morally liberal than it was during any previous super-majority. I can’t imagine F.D.R. addressing the virtues of gay marriage for example. President-Elect Obama has long supported gay unions.
But to me — even more scary than Mr. Obama’s liberal positions — is the fact that he’s partnering up with Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who represents America’s Sodom and Gomorrah: San Francisco. Also rounding out the fearsome threesome is Harry Reid, the constantly irritated Mormon from Utah. (I’ve never seen him smile!) Looking at this line-up leaves little doubt that most of the coming liberal agenda will have virtually no opposition.
As for the Christian community, I believe we in America are rapidly moving into a post-Christian era. I don’t mean to pick on this guy before he takes office, but I believe it’s my responsibility as an observer of God’s prophecy to point out certain facts that are now taking place.
Simply stated, this will be the first administration publicly dedicated to re-defining marriage, encouraging homosexual rights, restricting free speech and the preaching of Biblical principles, encouraging unrestricted abortion and suppressing individual initiative – all of which is in direct conflict with this nation’s Christian heritage. This will translate also to post-God’s blessings and post-God’s protection.
Now I know this sounds harsh, but it is based upon campaign promises and letters to special interest groups.
Also astounding to me is the number of church leaders and fellow Christians that supported this candidate and his agenda. This will definitely be discussed in upcoming commentary.
Next, what will this new majority do for America on the international scene? First of all, there’s little doubt that our new leaders will be much more receptive to diplomatic discussion as opposed to military options. Not to say that I agree or disagree, what this environment will promote is a much less aggressive approach, which will rapidly translate to an international balance of power. Now, coupling that with the ongoing shift in the economic picture, which is rapidly moving to Asia and the E.U. (the revived Roman Empire), this will put America in a much more weakened condition and loss of her super-power status.
So what does this mean in the prophetic light? When we read passages from Revelation, Daniel, and Ezekiel, we see NO sign of America in the last days scenario. Specifically, in Ezekiel 38 and 39, this prophet of some 2600 years ago names the countries that are involved in the rapidly approaching “Ezekiel War”. These countries exist today and the U.S. is not one of them! (I’ll soon have a complete study on the “Ezekiel War” available on this site.)
Also in the prophetic overview of Armageddon, the final battle, the King of the North (Russia), the King of the East (China) and many others are listed, but not America.
Tim LaHaye, in his “Left Behind” series, displays a ten-zone (or region) format for the nations of the Earth in its final throes before our Lord’s triumphant return. Could America end up being a part of one of these zones? If China and the Arab states keep buying us up, we won’t have much choice but to do what they tell us. After all, they will own us.
While I know this all sounds depressing and the world appears to be in total chaos, take heart, dear Christian brothers and sisters! God’s plan is unfolding before our very eyes! I encourage each of you to become aware of what the prophets and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself said of these times. It will help each of you to deal with life in these traumatic days.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:6 that we should not be alarmed because these things must happen. Also, I Thessalonians 1:10 states that Jesus will rescue us from the coming wrath.
So be strong, stay calm, love and reach out to one another. And remember that as the “contractions” come more rapidly, it only means that our Lord and Savior is much closer to coming for us!
Until next time,
