So, should I be upset with the election results? In my old life, I would have been but in my new life in Jesus, it matters not to me. He has put into office who He’s chosen to be there. It is now my duty and Christian responsibility to pray for him (I Timothy 1-2) and all the other leaders that have been strategically placed in God’s overall plan.
The one thing that I am happy about is that America is becoming colorblind. This is a good thing! I was blessed because I was raised by a mother who taught me never to judge someone by the color of their skin or where they were from. I’ll be eternally grateful to her for that.
But, how might this election play out on our national life as well as the prophetic scene?
First of all, with the election results in, we are seeing one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in the history of this nation. Liberals will dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965 when L.B.J. took office, or 1933, the beginning days of F.D.R. and eventually, The New Deal.
But there is one glaring difference – the Democratic party of today is far more morally liberal than it was during any previous super-majority. I can’t imagine F.D.R. addressing the virtues of gay marriage for example. President-Elect Obama has long supported gay unions.
But to me -- even more scary than Mr. Obama’s liberal positions -- is the fact that he’s partnering up with Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who represents America’s Sodom and Gomorrah: San Francisco. Also rounding out the fearsome threesome is Harry Reid, the constantly irritated Mormon from Utah. (I’ve never seen him smile!) Looking at this line-up leaves little doubt that most of the coming liberal agenda will have virtually no opposition.
As for the Christian community, I believe we in America are rapidly moving into a post-Christian era. I don’t mean to pick on this guy before he takes office, but I believe it’s my responsibility as an observer of God’s prophecy to point out certain facts that are now taking place.
Simply stated, this will be the first administration publicly dedicated to re-defining marriage, encouraging homosexual rights, restricting free speech and the preaching of Biblical principles, encouraging unrestricted abortion and suppressing individual initiative – all of which is in direct conflict with this nation’s Christian heritage. This will translate also to post-God’s blessings and post-God’s protection.
Now I know this sounds harsh, but it is based upon campaign promises and letters to special interest groups.
Also astounding to me is the number of church leaders and fellow Christians that supported this candidate and his agenda. This will definitely be discussed in upcoming commentary.
Next, what will this new majority do for America on the international scene? First of all, there’s little doubt that our new leaders will be much more receptive to diplomatic discussion as opposed to military options. Not to say that I agree or disagree, what this environment will promote is a much less aggressive approach, which will rapidly translate to an international balance of power. Now, coupling that with the ongoing shift in the economic picture, which is rapidly moving to Asia and the E.U. (the revived Roman Empire), this will put America in a much more weakened condition and loss of her super-power status.
So what does this mean in the prophetic light? When we read passages from Revelation, Daniel, and Ezekiel, we see NO sign of America in the last days scenario. Specifically, in Ezekiel 38 and 39, this prophet of some 2600 years ago names the countries that are involved in the rapidly approaching “Ezekiel War”. These countries exist today and the U.S. is not one of them! (I’ll soon have a complete study on the “Ezekiel War” available on this site.)
Also in the prophetic overview of Armageddon, the final battle, the King of the North (Russia), the King of the East (China) and many others are listed, but not America.
Tim LaHaye, in his "Left Behind" series, displays a ten-zone (or region) format for the nations of the Earth in its final throes before our Lord’s triumphant return. Could America end up being a part of one of these zones? If China and the Arab states keep buying us up, we won’t have much choice but to do what they tell us. After all, they will own us.
While I know this all sounds depressing and the world appears to be in total chaos, take heart, dear Christian brothers and sisters! God’s plan is unfolding before our very eyes! I encourage each of you to become aware of what the prophets and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself said of these times. It will help each of you to deal with life in these traumatic days.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:6 that we should not be alarmed because these things must happen. Also, I Thessalonians 1:10 states that Jesus will rescue us from the coming wrath.
So be strong, stay calm, love and reach out to one another. And remember that as the “contractions” come more rapidly, it only means that our Lord and Savior is much closer to coming for us!
Until next time,
Red
