As promised, It's time to bring you part 2 of Michael
T. Snyder's article concerning President Barak Obama's comments on Islam
and Christianity. ... Last week I listed the 20 quotes relating to Islam
.... Here now are his 20 quotes on the subject of Christianity. ...
And, like last week, I will add my brief thoughts as we go along ...
so here goes ................
1) "Whatever we once were, we are no
longer a Christian nation."
...... Judging by the current state of our society,
I would have to say he is right. ... I just don't want to hear the leader
of our nation, who claims to be a Christian, 'give in' so easily ....
2) "We do not consider ourselves a Christian
nation."
...... I resent this statement because I am part
of the 'we' .... Some of us aren't going to give up so easily ...
3) "Which passages of scripture should
guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests
slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is an abomination? Or
we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he
strays from the faith?"
...... Now I know why he is confused! ... He hasn't
a clue as to how our faith works. ... You, Mr.President, need to study
Hebrews, chapters 7 through 10 and learn how Jesus brought a new and
"better covenant" ... Hebrews 8:13 says this ... "By
calling this covenant 'new,' He has made the first one obsolete, and
what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear." .... Oh,
and by the way Mr. President, the Surah from the Koran states specifically
that followers of Islam must either 'convert, or kill.' ... Guess you
forgot that one ....
4) "Even those who claim the Bible's
inerrancy make distinctions between spiritual edicts, sensing that some
passages - the Ten Commandments, say, or a belief of Christ's divinity
- are central to Christian faith, while others are more culturally specific
and may be modified to accommodate modern life."
...... The 'others' he speaks of here are those
who compromise the Word of God so as to make it more 'acceptable' in
today's morally fallen society. ... 2 Timothy 2:3-4 addresses this by
saying that we, in these last days, will surround ourselves with teachers
who will say what our "itching ears" want to hear. ... This
seems to be what Mr. Obama is relating to, and by his actions, obviously
subscribes to ......
5) "The American people intuitively
understand this, which is why the majority of Catholics practice birth
control and some of those opposed to gay marriage nevertheless are opposed
to a Constitutional amendment to ban it. .. Religious leadership need
not accept much wisdom in counseling their flocks, but they should recognize
this wisdom in their politics."
...... What?! .... What I think he means here is,
it is different for the Church than it is for the government, or what
applies to the people doesn't always apply to those running things.
... If we watch how he approaches most everything, it is evident that
this is what he believes .... Do as I say, not as I do .....
6) "From Obama's book, The Audacity
of Hope: 'I am not willing to have the state deny American citizens
a civil union that confers equivalent rights on such basic matters as
hospital visitation or health insurance coverage simply because the
people they love are of the same sex - nor am I willing to accept a
reading of the Bible that considers an obscure line in Romans to be
more defining of Christianity than the Sermon on the Mount."
...... Wow! .... Here's the 'pick & choose'
method of Christianity that prevails today in this fallen land! ...
His reference to the obscure Romans passage is most likely 1:27 where
it states specifically that sexual perversion is a sin. ... There are
quite a few more passages that speak directly to this specific sin,
one being 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which states without equivocation that
homosexuals WILL NOT inherit the Kingdom of God! ... ... And by
the way, Mr. President, the Sermon on the Mount speaks of many things,
but it just didn't specifically mention homosexuality. ... So does this
then condone it and eliminate all the other scriptures that don't? ...
Absolutely not!
7) "Obama's response when asked what
his definition of sin is: 'Being out of alignment with my values."
...... I always suspected that he is a narcissist
..... Now I'm sure of it!
8) "If all it took was someone proclaiming
I believe Jesus Christ and that He died for my sins, and that was all
there was to it, people wouldn't have to keep coming to Church, would
they?"
...... This guy's a confused mess! ... Going to
Church doesn't save you, but wanting to be in fellowship with fellow
believers is what keeps us strong and centered in these difficult days
.... To just say the words isn't enough. ... One must truly believe
them, and when that occurs, our actions then are a result of that belief.
... To just 'go through the motions' ... to be lukewarm ... results
in rejection from our Savior. .... Simply, faith without
works, is dead!
9) "This is something that I'm sure
I'd have serious debates with my fellow Christians about. I think
that the difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity,
is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and proselytize.
There's the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven't
embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they're going to
hell."
...... Debate it all you want, Mr.President, but
if people DON'T embrace Jesus as their Savior, they are lost! ... Simply,
He is the only way to Heaven. ......
10) "I find it hard to believe that
my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell. I can't
imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never
interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity.
That's just not part of my religious makeup."
...... Your ending statement says it all. ... We,
as individuals, cannot 'make up' our religious beliefs or desires ...
I will grant you that some of these things are difficult to understand
as mere humans, but it is NOT optional to 'pick & choose' what feels
right. ... It is, and only is, as the Bible says it is! .... Jesus says
in Matthew 7:13-14 ...... "Enter through the narrow gate.
For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction,
and many enter through it. 14) But small is the gate and narrow the
road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
11) "I don't presume to have knowledge
of what happens after I die. But I feel very strongly that whether
the reward is in the here and now or in the hereafter, the aligning
myself to my faith and my values is a good thing."
...... This statement pretty much sums up the man's
problem .... the 'deception of self' ... Often in speeches, he always
mentions 'I' & 'me,' just as he did here .... "my faith
and my values" ... He needs to get himself out of the way before
he can ever begin to comprehend the 'selfless' message of Jesus Christ
......
12) I've said this before, and I know this
raises questions in the minds of some evangelicals. I do not believe
that my mother, who never formally embraced Christianity as far as I
know .... I do not believe she went to hell."
...... This is a tough one for many people ... not
knowing for sure the eternal fate of people they really care for .....
We will only know the answer to the fate of these certain individuals
when we get there ourselves. ... But the one thing we can NEVER compromise
is this .... no one will enter the Kingdom of Heaven without faith in
Jesus Christ, no matter their station in this earthly life .....
13) "Those opposed to abortion cannot
simply invoke God's will - they have to explain why abortion violates
some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths."
...... Two-part answer here .... First, by deciding
to 'abort' any living being is taking the role that belongs only to
God. ... Termination of any life is His decision, not an option for
mankind. ... and secondly, my only obligation to anyone of another faith
is to tell them of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. ... Without it,
they are doomed!
14) "On his support for civil unions
for gay couples: 'If people find that controversial then I would
just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount."
...... Statements like this are almost embarrassing,
especially coming from someone who claims to follow the faith ......
This is the second time he has misused the Sermon on the Mount. ....
I suggest he read it very closely. .... It covers many areas, but NEVER
does it condone sexual perversion!
15) "You go into these small towns in
Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the midwest, the jobs
have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And
they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration,
and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities
are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising
then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to
people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade
sentiment as a way to explain their frustration."
...... I remember when he made this statement, and
people from those areas were really offended and upset
... and no wonder .. 'gun-tottin'? .. prejudice?
.. narrow-minded? .... He was divisive then, and he has become much
more so since being re-elected in 2012. .... This particular statement
also labeled us 'religious' people as narrow-minded, unbending, &
unforgiving ...... I guess if believing that Jesus is the only way to
salvation means being narrow-minded & unbending, then I'm guilty.
.. But unforgiving? ... Not on your life! ... This IS what Jesus is
all about ...
16) "In our household, the Bible, the
Koran and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf alongside books of Greek,
and Norse and African mythology."
.... This is simply a statement for the support
of 'pluralism' ... the position that supports many paths to heaven.
..... But the truth is this ... only one of those
books has the real answer ... The Bible .....
17) "On Easter or Christmas Day, my
mother my drug me to Church, just as she dragged me to the Buddhist
Temple, the Chinese New Year celebration, the Shinto Shrine, and ancient
Hawaiian burial sites."
...... No wonder he's so screwed up!
18) "We have Jews, Muslims Hindus, atheists,
agnostics, Buddhists, and their own path to grace is one that we have
to revere and respect as much as our own."
...... I will respect their ways of life, but NEVER
will I value their faith or beliefs as I do my own. ... Simply, they
are not equal .......
19) "All of us have a responsibility
to work for the day when the mothers of Israelis and Palestinians can
see their children grow up without fear; when the Holy Land of
the three great faiths is a place of peace that God intended it to be;
when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians
and Muslims, and a place for all children of Abraham to mingle peacefully
together as in the story of Isra .... as in the story of isra, when
Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed , peace be upon them, joined in prayer."
..... This is pure blasphemy! ... The man is totally
deceived, and has absolutely no idea of what 'true' Christianity is
all about. .... To call yourself a Christian requires at least a basic
understanding of the teachings of Jesus. ..... No sign of it here!
20) "I believe that there are many paths
to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power,
a belief that we are connected as a people."
...... The previous comment pretty much covers this
one as well ......
Well, that is it. .... I would suggest that you
go back and compare comments of both faiths side by side. .... It is
simply amazing when looked at this way. .... Now I know why he no longer
celebrates anything Christian in the White House, but does celebrate
almost all of the Muslim holidays. .... Makes one wonder ......
The Bible does instruct us to pray for our leader(s),
and our president is no exception. ... I find this difficult at times,
but a Christian sister taught me how to do this .... She said that the
only way she could pray for Obama was for his salvation. .... Upon thinking
about this, she is absolutely right! .... The Bible says that anyone
can change and that we must never give up. .... Think about this for
a moment ... what if the president did change and become fully committed
to the TRUE doctrine of Jesus Christ. .... A person with this much power
would have a massive impact on the entire world!
But just in case it doesn't happen, life will go
on and we who do follow the Lord's teachings will be victorious in the
end ... Hallelujah!
OK ... This has gotten entirely too long, so I'm
stopping for now. ... Know that I love you all and am constantly praying
for each of you......... No matter the course the world takes, we know
that God is always in control, and the end result will be victory over
deception and sin! ... Again, hallelujah!
Until next time,
Red
